Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), Paro

The Paro Dzong, also known as Rinpung Dzong (Fortress on a Heap of Jewels), is a breathtaking architectural masterpiece and an important historical site. Built in the 17th century by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the dzong is a symbol of Bhutan’s political and religious history. It is located on the banks of the Paro Chhu (river) and serves as both a monastic center and the administrative seat of the Paro district.
