You will begin your journey with an early morning flight to Paro, Bhutan (please verify flight timings). The flight from Delhi or Kathmandu is renowned for its stunning views, offering a glimpse of the world’s ten highest peaks. Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our guide and transferred to Thimphu. After lunch, you will visit the Memorial Chorten, a temple dedicated to the late 3rd King of Bhutan. This site is a gathering place for local elders who spend their days chanting prayers and socializing. Next, explore Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, which provides breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Continue to the Motithang Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal, the takin, before heading to the Buddha Dordenma Statue, the largest and most recent statue of Buddha, offering panoramic views of Thimphu valley. In the late afternoon, visit Tashichho Dzong, the fortress housing the King’s throne. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely walk around Thimphu, Bhutan’s largest and busiest town, known for its vibrant atmosphere.

This market remains a vital space for trade, where villagers exchange goods and purchase necessities, reminiscent of the traditional bata system once practiced widely. Next, explore the Traditional Handmade Paper Mill, where Bhutanese artisans craft paper using ancient methods. Continue to the School of Arts and Crafts, where students are trained in 13 traditional arts that are deeply rooted in Bhutanese culture. A visit to the Folk Heritage Museum will offer insight into traditional Bhutanese homes and lifestyles from past generations. Then, head to the National Library, home to an extensive collection of religious texts and teachings from renowned Buddhist masters worldwide. Drive up to the Dechenphodrang Monastic School to meet the young monks, followed by a visit to Zilukha Nunnery, where you can interact with the nuns. After lunch in Thimphu, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, crossing the Dochula Pass (3,200m). Weather permitting, enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Bhutan’s highest mountain peaks, with a breathtaking vista stretching nearly 180 degrees. Take time to walk around the newly constructed 108 stupas before continuing down into the subtropical valley of Punakha, where the vegetation contrasts with Thimphu’s alpine landscape. After exploring the Dzong, if you’re in the mood for a half-day hike, you can embark on a short but steep climb above the fortress. The hike offers stunning views of the valley, with houses scattered across the landscape and the vibrant turquoise river winding through its sandy bed. This trail is also popular among mountain bikers. The hike concludes at a farm field, where you’ll cross a newly constructed bridge, and your car will be waiting on the other side of the river. Alternatively, you may choose to walk the entire route from your hotel. After lunch, you can take an hour-long uphill hike to Khamsum Yuley Lhakhang, a temple perched above the valley, offering panoramic views of the paddy fields and the winding river. If you prefer a more relaxed afternoon, you could drive to Wangdi Province for a short hike to the ancient village of Rinchengang, which offers a view of the Wangdi Dzong ruins. The village is a wonderful example of how Bhutanese people have preserved their traditional houses over the centuries. Continue to explore the charming old Paro town, where you can browse through local handicraft stores for unique souvenirs. In the morning, drive to the base of the Tiger’s Nest Monastery for a 3-hour uphill hike to this iconic temple, one of Bhutan’s most revered landmarks. Perched on a dramatic granite cliff, Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) offers breathtaking views of the Paro Valley. The majority of the day will be spent on the hike, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty and spiritual significance of this sacred site. After descending, if you still have the energy and time, visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, which holds immense historical importance as the site where Buddhism began in the country. For relaxation, you may opt for a hot stone bath at an additional cost, an authentic Bhutanese tradition that soothes both body and soul. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your guide, reflecting on the memories created during your Bhutan journey.

In the morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro International Airport (a 15-minute drive) for your departure flight.
